A common argument I’ve heard against trans people is that they’re “mentally ill” if that’s how we classify transgender people then wouldn’t the treatment just be gender affirming care?

Transphobes think that therapy makes people not trans because they know absolutely nothing about therapy

They say it’s so they don’t “affirm people’s delusions” or whatever, but that just goes to show they don’t know what delusions are or how people with delusions are supposed to be treated

I think if you want to be a completely different sex than you were born than yes it’s mentally ill. But if you want to amplify the sex you are then it’s fine. Less risks and you aren’t changing something that is fundamental to who you are.

No. It’s a subscription service for sexuality. Stop pushing products that benefit the big corporations at the expense of vulnerable people.

They also don’t genuinely want us to get help in therapy they want us to be “fixed”. Like no man my therapist is going to help me get better care, this isnt conversion therapy

Funny thing is, therapy is how trans folk get approved to access gender affirming care lmao

Like it’s not even a good product. I’ll save you guys the horror stories my trans coworkers went through (strip clubs, long story, don’t judge I’m already my own harshest critic) but they absolutely take advantage of these people and try to put the title of “care” on the surgeries/hormones without putting a second thought into the actions they are taking or not taking to help the person long term.

The experiences of one individual or even small group, are not indicative of how things work on a large scale for the general population. I’m sorry your experiences were shit. Genuinely I am. That sounds horrible. But they don’t allow you to make blanket statements about kinds of people, or make blanket *decisions* for them.

Do you have any idea how many transgender strippers there are near south east Asia? Guam? Hawaii? This wasn’t a one off. It’s been a part of their culture for hundreds of years. Go there. You will see the difference between what the US and EU did as far as “care” goes vs the way they were doing it without hormones and surgeries. Which is to say other things they do isn’t abhorrent, but it will make you question if anyone in the healthcare industry gives a fuck about anyone they provide “care”.
