The left can either change the laborer or it can change its approach. In other words, if one wants the rednecks to be leftist than they would have to actually appeal to them.

some still are, you can’t generalize. I grew up around rednecks and a lot of em are very leftist. although a lot of people where I am (northern appalachia area) grow up in very poor conditions, so when they hear more conservative ideas saying that this will make them money or solve their issues, they get hopeful even if it’s all a lie. I think that’s where those policies get them is that they want to believe it so badly. although obviously it’s not as simple as that all the time

I agree. It is so difficult when they have been propagandized so effectively. Liberals and fascists have spent the last 80 years inoculating the working class against leftist movements using false narratives, religion, and stoking racism and identity politics. Ask any working class person and they generally agree on stances and most common enemies until you connect the dots and they remember the points of the propaganda they were taught

Starting by calling many of the beliefs of the working class as ideas “inoculated by fascists” is exactly the kind of thing that poor rural voters rebel against, and I would know for I come from such a background. Class-inclusive rhetorical changes are the primary way we can activate class consciousness along economic lines instead of along occupational lines. Anything else seems ‘better than thou’ and thus hurts more than it helps.

I get that, but generalizations are important for making a broad point. An exception to the rule doesn’t negate the broad point being made. The “most” that I could have added is implied. Obviously things are more complex, nothing is simple.
