i am pretty sure i learned they treated blacksmiths badly in a lot of other countries in like Europe and stuff back in the day too

In Africa specifically, blacksmithing was an inherited untouchable caste. It seems lime like some jobs get assigned that role in various cultures. In France it was the Cagots who were woodworkers. In Japan and Korea it was the burakumin and paekchǒng who were butchers. In India it is the Dalits who were butchers, latrine cleaners, etc.
