American labor unions, social democrats, and communists broadly supported American joining the war after we were attacked by Japan.Leftists were going overseas to help defend the Spanish Republic. Conservatives were the Franco Nationalists and fascists….it was really after the USSR was invaded in June 1941. once Molotov-Ribbentrop was broken, the comintern and American left, switched their stances on the war. people like Pete Seeger and the Almanac Singers pulled their anti-war music for a period, and started producing songs in support of intervention. the attacks on Pearl Harbor that same year cemented their stance
Leftists didn’t want to join the war until we were attacked. I have to imagine they’d be the same. Sure, you’ll have your hardcore tankies that would support a Chinese invasion or some shit, but most of them are just non-interventionalist or isolationists. Being attacked changes their opinion.
