Depends on the church. Most churches (though not all) I’ve been to wouldn’t be But if we’re talking about a pentecostal church (or other evangelical sect) in the Deep South, then 100%.

Religion can be helpful for some, but a lot of US Christianity (especially tradcaths and evangelicals) are really simultaneously repressive and in some cases actively harmful (not to mention heretical, but that’s another whole argument). The decision to be religious is an individual one, based on many factors, and someone leaving the church because of strict repression is a totally valid decision.

Hypocrisy and greed are the two greatest sins one can have, because the lead to all others and there is no end to their combined depravity. And I say this regardless of the religious connotation of sin.
