I see where you are coming from but it’s not really a ponzi scheme when it’s literally the whole point of social security is it help the elderly who can’t work. A ponzi scheme is like a background shuffling of money but social security is actively giving money for that specific purpose more like donating than an investment

I’m tired of Americans pretending like a pay as you go system is the only option to provide aid to the elderly. Pension systems are so much more successful. Social security costs $1.5 trillion dollars every year.

It’s not “I’ll pay my taxes for social security because I’ll get it someday” it’s “I pay my taxes for social security because we need to help the elderly” at least that’s how I see it
