it’s just going to say that they should have moved more to the right and also that it was the people’s fault and there was absolutely nothing they could have done differently
Somebody really needs to leak the DNC’s autopsy of the 2024 election

they literally had fucking Liz Cheney do events on the campaign trail, the whole Harris campaign was focused on winning over the ‘undecided conservative voter’ as if they’re going to vote for a black woman.

what concessions to the right were made when she did events with liz cheney, the leader of the jan 6th committee, to talk about the threat to democracy?

you think doing events with neocons while talking about being the most lethal fighting force and talking about ‘Israel has a right to defend itself’ is how you direct a campaign at the left?

the intentional effort to swing right voters is documented in internal. she distanced herself from figures like bernie sanders and other progressives by limiting public appearances, as well as accepting the framing of border and immigration issues as being related to drugs and crime, and the pattern becomes clear.

she ran a center left campaign with some progressive and populist messaging. believe it or not the average independent and democrat like the military and care about national defense. these were not right wing statements. she didnt brand all of her messaging to the far left, nor should she have. but thats not the same as saying she was catering to right wingers lmao

and the theme of modern elections is that young people and progressives are almost always ignored, despite being a significant voting block. A step left to activate progressives and young people may have been a more successful move than working with liz cheney to convince republicans it was ‘okay’ to vote for a democrat.

all in all though I don’t really attribute this to Harris, and lay the blame much more with the DNC, who refuse to acknowledge progressives and then scold them or call them ‘bad democrats’ for not blindly supporting centrist candidates who treat progressive backing as a given.

the problem with all of this is that pretty much every single polling stated that independents, who are required to win, were absolutely sick of progressivism and their key issues were the border and economy, so of course the correct response is moderating on those issues
