It’s a gorgeous place, also Eastern NC Style BBQ is fucking fire, I grew up in Charlotte but came to college in the Coastal Plain (ECU), the weather is extremely volatile given that this is where multiple air masses meet up, but overall I like living in coastal NC. Affordable, not too far from the beach at all, great local cuisine, top notch place. This snowstorm is insane though.

The summers are kind of brutal, and the worst parts of Southern culture are present here, like everywhere in the South. But that ain’t everybody, and there’s unique natural beauty here unmatched in all the world. Like our wetlands (the only native territory of the Venus Flytrap), the Croatan National Forest, and historic landmarks like Fort Macon, which was used in 4 different wars, including the Civil War and WWII. I love this region, not the warts, but the rest.

I’m moving to Oregon this year, and I’m super excited because I love the PNW but there’s definitely plenty I’m gonna miss and reminisce on with my new friends I make over there.

Oh yeah, I’ll definitely be telling stories about the Croatan Wildfire of 2023, and how I was on my back porch blasting Fire by Jimi Hendrix hitting my bong while ashes were falling from the sky into my hair, just for one great East Carolina nature story I’ve got
