I agree that Maduro wasn’t a great guy and I’m not doubting there’s Venezuelans who are happy about this, but historically, coming in and killing a leader (or kidnapping I suppose) and installing a puppet government hasn’t been a successful way to create long-lasting change

It’s reasonable to be glad Maduro is gone but be concerned about the legality and consequences of what happened

On the other hand the venezuelan people are happy that he’s gone and this could usher in a new change for venezuela and potentially a better ally

I have a feeling they don’t know that we might not even let them choose their next leader. We might just choose someone ourselves who we know will give us oil
