Didn’t lots of Viking and Germanic tribes actually assimilate into the cultures they settled in? There were German Muslims ruling parts of Spain at one point

I don’t know about ruling parts of Spain but there were Vikings who settled in the emirate of Cordoba during the reign of (off the top of my head, look it up yourself for correct info) abd al-rahman II

I believe that’s a folk etymology, Slav comes from a specific tribe from the Middle Ages and the Latin word became the English word “slave” shows up before that tribe does in the historical record

Although a lot of Slavs were enslaved because they were late to found kingdoms and convert to Christianity, which made them easy/justifiable targets for warfare.

I mean the Kievan Rus were Vikings who did assimilate into Slavic culture. And the Vikings who settled throughout the British isles adopted Gaelic and English culture. And the Normans who settled in France adopted French culture.

This isn’t to say the Vikings were cool and chill. They enslaved a LOT of people especially Gaels. But like race is a construct so of course they weren’t white supremacists.
