In just curious as a religious person who isn’t Christian, do you guys believe the stories in the Bible are things that really happened or just metaphors?

Not religious but I think it’s a mixture of both. Like was Jesus a real person in history and a good guy? Yeah probably. Did he walk on water? Fuck no lmao. Same with Noah’s Ark for example. There probably was a flood, but not a flood that literally flooded the entire earth and killed everything. It was probably just based on a pretty big flood

No longer Christian but I was raised Christian to believe that everything in the Bible exactly happened

Bruh I feel bad for kids who are forced to believe that there was just one gaint man and a regular man had to fight him and won lol.

Yeah nah the Bible is literally just a book of beliefs and examples of the person you should be. Unfortunately nobody follows them and makes up their own shit to justify like killing Jews for example.

I mean I remember even as a kid being more concerned that God would literally kill the whole world besides two of every species then tell people that killing people is bad. And send that angel to peoples houses to kill their first born unless they had blood on their door or whatever it was. I asked questions my whole life since elementary school and never got any real answers.

My girlfriend says some of the same things that she feared just randomly dying because she didn't follow the belief system or like somebody in her family would just die.

And if there weren’t as many species in that time or how in the world would they get every single species to exist from every climate into that one ark

Yeah that’s why I don’t like getting into debates about what the Bible does and doesn’t mean. People will take from it what they want, and the Bible contradicts itself all the time. Not to mention it was written decades after everything supposedly went down The only real concrete lessons are the ones where Jesus or God flat out says what they mean. The rest is so up to interpretation and since it’s based on memory alone is probably not even accurate

Yeah that's why I like basing a religion off of book just doesn't seem morally viable.
