We are not “happy” for the death penalty. Do you think God is happy when he casts people away from him down to hell? No, instead it is a matter of proportional punishment and a deterrent.

It entirely is. But that’s why we are not happy for the death penalty. And yes God does deliberately cast people away from himself. “And then I will tell them, ‘I never knew you; away from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

I profoundly disagree with you on that but you’re a lot more empathetic than pretty much all other defenders of the death penalty I’ve interacted with

Idk which Abrahamic faith you follow but I think Christianity rejects the idea of “proportionate punishment.” We would all go to hell if we got what we deserved, is what Jesus would say

Also if you’re Jewish I’m p sure the Talmud lays down a lot of rules that make it virtually impossible to execute people. Not that the Talmud is the final say of course
