Was every single thing he did an act of pure evil? Of course not. Did he make deliberate and repeated decisions that actively worsened the lives of a great number of people? Undeniably. It isn’t about not liking him, it’s about how he, and so many like him, knowingly violated our common social contract of respect for each others humanity. In doing so, he gave up his right to any of my respect.

lol you realize a majority of dems or dem leaning voters identity of moderates? Sure the people who typically vote in primaries aren’t but the actual voters at large are more moderate than you think. I’m pretty progressive but the left has turned me off with their tactics, litmus tests, and hyperfocus on identity politics all the time (ofc I’m a dem in the south and we skew more moderate than others, esp minority dems here per the data)

I’m not saying you need to like him (I didn’t) but note that they had some nice things to say unlike they would for Josh Hawley or someone. Yeah sorry i don’t mourn the death of the guy who said Gaza should be nuked Also the answer to your question is that when you have no home, no books, no belongings, no place of worship, and a lot of dead friends and relatives, the only thing left to do is fuck. I guess then I am curious what is your hangup when it comes to “celebrating” vs. “phew” or “thank god”? I think we are on sort of the same page here, I just am lost as to where your objections are based. From my admittedly somewhat black and white view, there is one less person on this earth violating others rights and supporting policy’s that cause death and suffering. That seems an event worth a little celebration to me

Fair question and thanks for actually being respectful. To me “phew” or “thank god” are things you say more privately to yourself or like your family or something whereas the celebrating I’m talking about is with public posts, memes etc.
