 conservatives posting the video of mamdani waving next to the video of Elon Musk doing the Hitler salute really got me tweaking because when you put them side by side like that it really just makes it more obvious that they’re not doing the same thing.

Well, no, they’re just calling it an internal critique I think But it’s also pretty obvious that it’s not the same thing. Mamdani did that just for many times and most of the times he was just opening and closing his hand to wave.

In the video they keep posting, Mamdani has his arm bent, fingers open, palm forward, and is waving his hand in a slower, obviously friendly gesture, like mayors often do. Elon hits the Sieg Heil twice on video, with a straight arm, palm down, and a faster, more aggressive motion. They’re not the same gesture and only one is a fascist salute.
