guys. congress has not declared war since 1941. declaring war is not even a thing anymore. the president does not technically need congressional approval to make war. he only needs congressional approval to “declare war” which is irrelevant anyway

Keep in mind there was congressional approval for Vietnam and Iraq war, even if those were not formal declarations of war. But no congressional approval of this Iran war yet

Yes, congress has basically ceded unlimited power to the president in an emergency. Trump was correct when he said he could embargo a country or bomb them without congress but just not that one little tariff thing.
