I’m surprised Gen Z isn’t more resentful to politicians who didn’t give a shit about us during Covid and locked us down and made us miss important moments and accomplishments that could have changed the prospect of our lives in high school or college.

Eh, the only person I rly “resent” is Trump for downplaying it so bad at the beginning. It’s why it got so bad later on

In the beginning it wasn’t as much of a decision by politicians as much as public health experts. Important moments like prom and graduation should have been done when it was safe for those who had those cancelled

Because I’d rather miss out on a few school events than have millions more people dead

Because I personally will always resent those people for not caring about us

Covid literally ruined my mental development and I’m still working through that fuck up

I do not resent the politicians b/c a lot of them (like us) were genuinely trying to keep us safe during a once-in-a-generation pandemic

Since when have politicians been genuinely interested in keeping people safe?

Idk, my governor in VA had pretty strict measures to keep things as safe as possible. Was the first to close down schools for the remainder of the school year

I’m just trying to give grace to the governors who may have overdone restrictions b/c they - like the rest of us - have never dealt w/something like this before. I’m not giving grace to those like DeSantis, who were way too lax

I don’t give them grace because they didn’t care about us since they only think about the demographics that can vote. I personally feel like I missed a lot of potential opportunities that would have changed the trajectory of my life if it weren’t for Covid cancellations but. Since I was 16 at the time me and many other Gen Z voices weren’t heard

I mean I was class of 2020 (ik, i’m “unc”) and had to give my graduation speech to a camera in a football field. It SUCKED, but I know it was for the best

My first year of college was also fraught with restrictions and testing, but again — for the best. Now, where my sympathy runs out is for *university-level* policies during the 2021-22 year. They had us testing 2-3x/week even though we’re all vaxxed + boosted

I say “university-level” b/c state-level policies eased up by fall 2021 lol. My uni definitely went overboard in 2021-22, and it caused a lot of stress for me. But I hold that against my college, not politicians

I at the very least was lucky that a group of parents in my county had a prom in a field for us. I was the only one wearing a mask 😂 but it was a fun time!

It’s also hard to think the restrictions were done in good faith when so many blm protests were allowed during peak covid lockdowns

Ig it helped that the protests were outside. It’s harder for covid to spread outdoors
