Eh nothing. People call horrific crimes “demonic” because it feels easier than accepting a hard truth that humans themselves are capable of extreme cruelty. Calling it supernatural creates emotional distance, it makes the act feel less human and therefore less scary. When someone commits murder or abuse and claims it’s religious or ritualistic, that doesn’t make the belief real, it means the person believed something irrational or used ideology to justify violence.
