Might catch some shit for this but I’m gonna go out on a limb here…this is a moderate type who you could eventually convince if talked to over a period of time.I mean id like to find out exactly what makes them not support it. Sometimes laying out your beliefs plainly reveals them to be talking points that can be easily rebutted. Low key used to be pro life as a teenager but I was challenged and I reevaluated. So I think a genuine conversation with sincere pushback would definitely help
Probably something to do with people not being sure, and as someone who’s trying to figure out what the fuck going on, I do think it’s important that a child completely understands themselves before making that decision, I’ve heard that some times the desire comes from repression, but idk if there’s much truth to that. I’m not saying children should be told they can or can’t think a certain way, but I feel like there should be a specialist who speaks to the kid individually.
Just spent like 30 minutes reading posts from trans people on Reddit, it seems my claims have no basis. The repression thing I heard was from a bisexual person who fantasized about being the other gender until they came out, and I incorrectly connected the claim with claims from conservative media about people pushing their children into it.
I want to clarify, as long as there is a lot of thought put into it, I think it’s cool, I just wasn’t sure if children were doing this while repressing other things and regretting it, it seems like there’s just a lot of older trans people who regret not starting hormonal treatment younger.
