Just because I don’t believe in Christianity doesn’t mean I haven’t studied the texts of Christianity. I don’t think we can say Jesus would be on any one modern political side, but there’s a reason Liberation Theology exists. There is certainly a valid interpretation of the gospels, formulated by clergymen, that leans left. Jesus DID in fact say to give to the poor, Jesus DID in fact say to treat the sojourner (immigrant) like your own brother. I don’t have to believe he’s God to read the book.
