there is nothing wrong with putting dog poop in someone else’s trash can if it’s not summer and it is the day before collection day, and if you disagree, you’re an idiot.

Nah it’s fine in any season, any day. They’re all trash cans and they belong to the city anyway

i mean i take it back to my cans, but if the trash is going out tomorrow I really don’t see the harm

you realize that city guidance is to put dog poop in garbage bins, right?

Idk what city you live in but that sounds like a nightmare to work through from a sanitation perspective

Yeah duh but dog poo bags aren't biohazard bags.

meh in the summer it can get really smelly, and people who didn’t choose to have a dog shouldn’t have to deal with that

what’s your solution then?

I guess it's really up to the city considering thats what they tell you to do with it, but I'd definitely have some choice words if I saw someone putting dog shit into my garbage can.

i mean help me understand, where’s the harm? like genuinely I don’t see how it harms you in any way, in the situation I described.

Well I don't really know every specific but it has the potential to harm if 1) city ordinances don't allow it because that could lead to the owner of the can being fined 2) it had a particularly obnoxious odor 3) it was an active contagion

1) i’m not aware of any jurisdiction where there is any prohibition on disposal of dog poop in garbage cans, and I think it’s clear i’m referring to somewhere it is permitted. 2) that’s specifically why I said not during summer and when the cans are being collected the next day. 3) if your dog’s poop is an active contagion you have bigger fish to fry.

Odors don't only get obnoxious during summer, and sure you may have bigger fish to fry if your dogs poo is a contagion, but if you keep your biohazards to yourself then other people don't have to share that suffering. I don't think that dog shit in someone else's can is really the worst thing ever either, but if its avoidable its definitely not a good habit or thing to do.

it seems pretty likely to me that you’ve never handled dog poop. It basically doesn’t smell when it’s in the bag (as long as you don’t like put your nose up to it) and it certainly doesn’t smell anywhere near as strongly as the average trash can.

I've never handled your dog's poop in the bags you use, no, so I am operating off of some assumptions. Are yours made of a material stronger than the average plastic used? Are they as impervious to tearing and obnoxious odors in the same way as a biohazard bag?

how many people do you think use biohazard bags for dog poop? also, most people use bags specifically designed for picking up dog poop.

I don't know many people who try to justify the position of putting their dog's poo in another person's trash can either to be fair.

answer the question, how many people do you believe use biohazard bags for dog poop?
