Because there’s a common belief that AI is inherently bad when the nature of its development and deployment by capitalist corporations are the issue at hand. Regarding my slight anthropomorphism, I actually hold the view that our current development of complex machine learning algorithms has the potential to shine a light on the building blocks of life itself (on the computational side of the question of life, as well as potential for non-carbon based life forms)

I don’t think we’ve achieved such a system yet though, I.e created a digital lifeform comparable to ourselves or another species known. My main thing is that I just kinda view AI as an extension of the working class, and capitalists are just using AI in its various forms to replace their dependence on the working class. That isn’t an inherent flaw of artificial intelligence, but of the goals of capitalists imo

Oh yeah I totally agree that AI could theoretically be good if the structure of our economy was completely different, but it’s not. So until our economic system changes, AI will remain a threat to the working class. Considering the likelihood of this country managing to implement the necessary economic changes to make AI deployment a good thing (improbable at best), I’d be cool with the brotherhood of steel blowing up AI infrastructure.

I mean don’t get me wrong, I can’t be upset at your perspective at all - it’s completely understandable given the state of our society and the capitalists’ current goals; especially with this new push of “local-computing is dead, all consumers will be cloud-based and renting soon” by major tech ceos. They’re trying to lock all technological compute and information behind paywalls, as us having access to artificial intelligence (local that is, not cloud teehee) helps to detract our overall

Dependence on hyper consumption and the market itself. I guess all we can do currently is take baby steps towards an equitable future, while trying to build towards that future for not only our own species, but every species we share the earth with. TLDR: it’s fair given the current climate and what the capitalist overlords are doing, I don’t blame you. We got this, and we’ll get through it!
