Greeks are Indigenous to Anatolia and Constantinople and the Turks are colonial oppressors. There is no way to argue against this without being a massive hypocrite. Its also still a recent issue, see Cyprus! 🇬🇷 🇨🇾

Greeks are indigenous to Anatolia, and Turkey does do settler colonialism, but it is not correct to portray them all as “foreigners.” I do not like the use of the word “the Turks” because it implicates all Turkish civilians. Turks are predominantly descended from indigenous Anatolian peoples who adopted Turkish culture. Just like the Palestinians with Arabic culture. That doesn’t make the Palestinians foreign.

And the actions of the Turkish government in Cyprus were fuckin monstrous. But the Cyprus war was incited by a Greek nationalist attempt to annex the independent island into Greece. We cannot ignore the genocidal actions of the Turkish government, but we also cannot dehumanize Turkish civilians.

If there’s one thing you can count on in history, it’s a steppe horde from the east displacing local Turkic peoples and forcing them to relocate to new areas (with varying results) E.g, Bulgaria, Turkey, Persia, the Stan countries Although there is an argument to be made that the Gokturks were one of those steppe horde displacers themselves.
