And the most frequent example of someone committing violence on a member of the opposite sex is spousal/domestic violence, since being in the same home makes that woman a member of his in-group in a way most women are not, and vice versa.

I mean I’m a man who’s been in a relationship with a domestically violent woman, I am well aware of that reality. I just don’t think it outweighs the fact that when men do domestic violence, the harm tends to be MUCH greater.

Being in a relationship with a violent woman was traumatic, to he sure, having someone who’s supposed to love you treat you that way generally is. But I never had to be hospitalized as a result, I never feared for life and limb from her actions. I cannot say the same for women I know who’ve been in domestic situations with violent men.

It's can be for sure. Any domestic violence is bad. But other than that men are targets of exterior violence at higher rates as well.

Every type of exterior violence except random violence. Women are more likely to be the targets of random acts of violence since they are generally viewed as easier victims. Women are more likely to be mugged or assaulted in the street at night by a stranger, men are more likely to get into a conflict with another man they know and have it end in violence.

Crime is complex and it’s difficult to make broad statements about since it effects every victim differently and every perpetrator is different, there are patterns but universal statements about it are often worthless.
