It’s really more the result of Republicans doing two things: making voting as inconvenient as possible, and scaring their voters into dealing with the inconvenience. Add to that a lot of propaganda and gerrymandering, and the final product is a party that is functionally immune to reality
I disagree, I think it comes from the widespread American cultural revulsion to conversations about politics. Which exists on both sides of the aisle. The fact that political conversation is considered uncouth. The way anyone who has constant serious critiques to make is considered a pessimist. Not every problem comes directly from the GOP, evil as the GOP is.
The fact that political commentary is so ubiquitous in the private sphere, on your television or phone, and so frowned upon in the interpersonal only exacerbates this issue. It incentivizes people to get their politics from one source, and refuse to engage outside of that source with people that have different perspectives than that source. People will watch Hannity or Maddow every night, and then utterly refuse to engage in irl political conversations, that is also true.
Political conversation in the United States is limited to a set of pre-approved topics. You can talk to the ends of the earth about the national debt or federal spending, but discussing systemic issues (like the fact our government is run by pedophiles) and offering systemic solutions is often seen as taboo and even treasonous in some cases
