i mean given the basics of the point i was making? yes. no need to add a shit load of nuance to a basic point. was there horrendous shit that happened all throughout westward expansion? 100%. did we move to trade or purchase most of the land from previous claimants, whether European or direct tribal interaction? also 100%.

i’m sorry i don’t understand how you can overlook the genocide of native americans. i dont see how its better to have purchased land from other nations who were also actively displacing and committing genocide against the native population. where does this fall in the conquered vs. stolen question? it’s kind of hard to talk about the early history of America without talking about its original inhabitants.
