I think a new pandemic is the least likely to happen out of these options (i’m not a expert don’t come for me)

We’re going to experience hardship from drought this year. At first its effects might only be first felt/visible at the the grocery store cash register, but I expect the news to report on the cost of crops and livestock to double across the board before the end of the year. Additionally, I fear this was the last “real” winter we will experience.

Last July, the ocean currents that circulate in opposite directions in the north and southern hemispheres collapsed and reversed. We’ve kick started a convection oven effect that will see daily temperatures continue to rise and break records more days than not.

What I would say is that given the combo of environmental factors, population growth, urbanization, mistrust of health institutions and advancements in biotechnology, like the ability to weaponize synthetic biology, the risk is getting a lot higher

I was really hopeful we’d figure it out before it got too late, but then we voted for him, and then I saw that article about the SMOC reversing, and now every day is just trying to occupy my brain with silly tasks so I can avoid thoughts of the end. The birds around my place never left for the winter. I’ve heard them everyday. No bugs. It was 70° in Kansas on Xmas day. It was 70° 2 weeks ago. We’re really just fucked

My mom and I were cooking in the kitchen and we went to step out to cool down like we usually do, but there was literally no difference in temp between outside and inside and it was cloudy and it was probably the most unsettling Christmas I’ve ever experienced
