Fascism is a more modern ideology and I feel like it’s necessary to actually criticize the aspects of enlightenment era liberalism that facilitated colonialism and slavery rather than going “everything bad is fascism”

Crazy that this has downvotes. We had SLAVES and indigenous populations don’t control their land. It’s not even a hot take. It’s just the cold hard truth.

And this is important in how we interact with modern settler colonial states. Israel is not a fascist country. It is a settler colonial liberal democracy, which operates as a herrenvolk democracy (democracy limited to one ethnicity) in the West Bank. We need to confront how liberalism can be used for that oppression rather than saying all oppression is fascist.
