Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin were never proven to be effective against COVID in properly designed trials. Many of the ones that claimed to ended up getting retracted or exposed for fabricating data. Even RFK’s HHS can’t come up with the studies to show it

You’re jumping to conclusions considering he doesn’t say what those alleged alternatives were. I will say he does say doctors and doesn’t reference the alternatives themselves so who knows what he’s talking about. At the very least there are some very credibly claims being made in other parts of the testimony

Then what alternatives could he be referring to that were “well-tested” (i.e. already on the market at the time the pandemic began) and not promoted by the “physician-bureaucrats” (loaded term!)?

The only one that I can think of that was “well-tested” at the time and turned out to work was dexamethasone, which was proven effective in the 2020 RECOVERY trial in the UK. Once it was proven to be effective in a large scale trial, it became the standard of care for patients on ventilators, with severe inflammation, or with cytokine storms. But it may not have been widely promoted on TV because taking it preventatively had no benefit and would literally suppress your immune system’s response

But dexamethasone wasn’t controversial, so I find it hard to believe he was referring to that. The rest of the ones were SSRIs, antibiotics, inhalers, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, etc. Doctors were just throwing shit at the wall to see what would stick, and some of these had decent reasoning behind why they should theoretically be effective, but ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine clearly didn’t. Ironically those were the two biggest ones that then had studies falsified to show that they worked
