You shouldn’t be able to own people? 🤨 Simple as that. Slavery is literally one of the least defensible things both morally, ethically, and economically.

Not to mention, slavery inherently could not exist without deep rooted racism. It wasn’t a matter of owning people, it was a matter of owning individuals that were viewed as less than human. Even cattle were treated better than slaves in America. That’s led to endless systemic issues like lack of proper medical research and care for black people, a higher likelihood to be incarcerated, etc.

Absolutely economically, plenty of papers to read that show this.

It can exist without racism all it requires is a sense of superiority. Rome enslaved the Gauls, Jews, Persians etc. The Ottomans enslaved blacks polytheist, white Christians The concept of owning a slave is older than writing down how many slaves you own it existed before the concept of race

Just because a majority believes something or votes for something, doesn’t make it a good idea or morally right

I’m talking specifically about American slavery, but instead of just insulting my take would you care to actually explain what’s wrong with it?

Enslaved people are never let free by their oppressors, they have to fight for it, and that was the case in America, the majority of white people fought for slavery whereas abolitionists and black slaves fought against it

That is all true, but what does that have to do with my comment? I never argued against that. If anything, I argued for it by bringing up continuous systemic racism and oppression
