That’s the weird part since Trump isn’t really even doing small government. Pretty involved in things by like. Banning DEI. Global tariffs on all imports. Continuing the Israel-Palestine conflict. Directing ICE occupation on specific cities that he doesn’t like- LA, Chicago, DC.

Republicans haven’t actually believed in small government in an absolute sense. They want a small government with respect to the things they like (taxes, starving the poor, not having civil rights protections), and a massive totalitarian government with respect to things they don’t like (minorities, their critics, countries with oil that don’t like us)
