I mean I’m a dude who’s broad-shouldered and deep-voiced. Very clearly a masculine man to anyone who looks at me or hears me talk. I’ve also worn makeup, I’ve played a drag role in a play (I’m a man who’s played a woman to make people laugh). There’s aspects to my personality that are traditionally feminine. They don’t undermine the masculine parts of my personality and body. Simple as.
Then you are not masculine. You are the equivalent of a frilled lizard or those caterpillars that look like snakes. You just have the look but you aren’t actually masculine. It’s called Mimicry in nature. If you were masculine you wouldn’t be acting feminine, wearing make up and doing drag shows
I sing Bass II (Deep Bass), I have shoulders like a linebacker because I was the butterfly specialist on my high school swim team. One look and listen to me, and your brain screams “MAN.” Nothing changes that, even though I’m also a trained dancer, have worn makeup both for productions and for fun, and have played a woman on the stage. I’m in a long term heterosexual relationship, nobody can deny my masculinity. I think the dudes who wouldn’t dare do such things for fear of femininity are scared
Society is still insecure about the idea of men grooming themselves. They don’t want them to be gross but they also don’t want them to ever come off like they put effort into not being gross. Men should naturally not be gross effectively. Like, beyond washing your anus, if you put any other effort into grooming your gay.
To be clear, if you just don’t have a talent for that kind of thing, that’s fine. If your take is “that’s cool but I couldn’t do that” it’s a perfectly fine take. But if you’re like “you’re less of a man for doing that kind of thing” it reeks of being uncomfortable in your own skin as another man.
