A lot of kids that were homeschooled end up both academically and socially lagging behind their peers. They often also don’t get exposed to new people or environments apart from their parents, so they’re unable to form their own views about things or become their own person, but more importantly, this opens up a lot of opportunities for abuse

I’m in favor of an integrative independent study model with public education, allowing for schools to provide curriculum to students and have in-house teachers checking in once every few weeks at least to ensure they‘re actually doing the required work.
