“This shit” being that marriages are governed by a religious body rather than legal? The entire Gay part of the graphic is irrelevant because no religion officiates same sex marriage. Nor interfaith

you would have a point if civil unions were offered to same sex couples, except they aren’t.

also the graphic is about being legally permitted to marry, not religiously permitted

There is no “legally permitted to marry” in Israel, the entire marriage system IS religious. It’s run by the religious bodies of the religions

And same sex couple absolutely have recognized unregistered cohabitation just as interfaith couples do. For over 30 years now actually

then why do civil unions exist? and why aren’t same sex couples eligible for civil unions? there’s literally no logical argument for excluding same sex couples from civil unions.

Israel doesn’t conduct civil unions bro. Your entire knowledge on the subject seems to be this graphic

you’re just wrong there. it’s a limited scope option, but it allows non religious couples to receive the same protections as married couples.

2010 civil union law. seems like you’re projecting your ignorance.

... israel absolutely recognizes civil unions

they don't conduct them - because the religious authorities presiding over marriage don't conduct them - but they recognize them. however, the graphic doesn't say "conduct" it says "you may have one" and it never implied it was granted by religious israeli authorities

The claim was marriage in Israel. If you want to say the graphic is talking about “recognizing” then they also recognize gay marriage. So how exactly did you add anything to the conversation here?

That law doesn’t even apply to interfaith couples. That’s a narrowly applied law to people who have zero ties to any religion. And is still not recognized as an official “marriage” it is its own entity

you may not receive a civil union in israel. you may have a civil union recognized in israel. you may not be same-sex or interfaith married *in* israel. that is what the graphic is saying - and that is israeli law

No one was arguing that bro. My original point was the graphic adds nothing newsworthy regarding gay marriage because it falls under the same umbrella of interfaith: Not done in country, but fully recognized when brought in. The point of the post to begin with was to single out special gay exclusion. “Civil unions” and “Unregistered cohabitants” in Israel get basically the same perks as each other, one just requires a ceremony and the other requires proof of the relationship

this is not a claim. you're trying to narrow the conversation for your rhetorical convenience

OP claim vs my original interjection. You’re 3rd partying my conversation and telling me what my claims are in response to the original. Not cool brah

dawg wtf r u yapping about atp? none of what you're saying changes the fact that same-sex marriages are strictly forbidden from being performed in israel's borders, which is homophobic. this is *both* a legal AND religious matter as israel's ministry of the interior and supreme court are both involved in deciding what the religious authorities have the right to permit/deny. israel is a homophobic ethnostate engaging in religious and sexual discrimination. period
