Maybe I’m missing something but what do they get out of waiting until then? His seat will be empty either way and will need to be filled, whether during the midterms or a special election next year

I think even if his mental state declined I think a video is possible at the bare minimum, even if it’s just him talking for five seconds. The proof of life photos are so similar that it’s jarring, it’s like an AI was asked to take a sample photo and change a few things about it

he’s not planning to run again in the midterms so republicans would want to wait until midterms so they can run their planned candidate

mcconnells seat is really important to very small republican majorities in several committees, if a democrat was in those seats even for a short time it would make a difference in policy
