This is Russia we’re dealing with. We know for a fact they won’t stop, the Ukrainians know it better than anyone. The question is do you let people die now and keep fighting, making Russia weaker, or do you make a temporary peace, only for Russia to rebuild their strength and attack again a few years down the road, killing even more?

Ukraine has been repelling Russia for 4 years. Russia is suffering the single greatest military failure of the century. And once again, what exactly do you propose when we know for a fact the Russians won’t stop? Unless of course you’re proposing we allow Ukraine into NATO with a multinational peacekeeping force to deter Russia, which is fine by me.

Putin has destroyed Russia’s international standing, decimated their military capabilities, destroyed their demographics, shattered their economy, driven their best and brightest in the STEM fields out of the country, and reduced them to the junior partner in their relationship with China. Putin WOULD have been one of the best, but he fell into the same trap all Russian leaders do, he decided Russia deserved more than it had.

As far as end goals. You’re right that there isn’t a perfect solution and any “victory” would still be devastating. There is no good ending. But what I do know is that the consequences of giving in will be far worse in the long term, unless Ukraine is able to enter NATO and be under the legitimate military protection of the alliance

Not because the Ukrainian military isn’t as good, they’re probably the best in the world at drone warfare right now. But NATO protection means nuclear deterrence and that’s the one thing Russians are smart enough to understand
