Hot take: I don’t care if Iran develops nukes. I really don’t. There’s no way they’d be able to get one here or anywhere except their direct neighbors, and not even Kim Jong Un is stupid enough to use them.

Ong dude. The only country to ever use a nuclear weapon in war is gonna say that Iran can’t have one because they can’t be trusted? Donald fucking trump is the man deciding to press that button or not; I think the Iranians might be somewhat sane by comparison

They’ve literally gone scorched earth on their neutral neighbors. Hell no, I don’t trust them with nukes. Kimmy is fine having the Hermit Kingdom, but Iran sponsors terror globally. God forbid one of their proxies get one of those nukes.

The root problem is that Israel has nukes. Now Iran wants them. If Iran gets them, Saudi Arabia will want them. That could either be escalatory or de-escalatory

Do you genuinely think that they’re unaware of the global consequences of lobbing a nuke at someone? Lots of countries (the us included) sponsor terrorism but understand the difference between that and starting nuclear war

They clearly don’t care about the global consequences attacking their neutral neighbors and extorting their allies. They attacked Oman, the US doesn’t even have a base there. It’s gotten so bad that even Hamas had to tell them to chill out.

Again, there is a clear difference between firing rockets at a country with missile defense systems and launching a nuclear warhead. Can we acknowledge that the Iranians are likely smart enough to not start a nuclear war? At least to the same degree that we wouldn’t start one ourselves?

And I mean yeah they’ve struck a bunch of unrelated countries just like Israel has, it’s not a trust building move but it’s not unique to Iran.

It’s not smarts, and it’s not the Iranians. The Islamic Regime is plenty competent, they just have vastly different goals than us. They’re not interested in global stability if it prevents them from achieving their religious ends. Their idea of martyrdom includes going to Jannah for blowing themselves up in religious struggle.

There’s plenty of evangelicals in the us who believe similar things as well as far right Jewish Israelis who believe that in telaviv. There’s still no reason to think that they would willingly bring about the end of Iran for the payoff of maybe striking one enemy with a nuke. To think so is to assume that they’re all incapable of rational thought which just isn’t likely

I mean look at the rabbid religious devotion and lack of concern around human rights from Israel. They have nukes and even they haven’t used them because they’re aware of the consequences. Iran is absolutely capable of coming to the same conclusion
