Trump started a war in Iran. Trump halted disease monitoring for livestock that is now sweeping through cattle ranches driving up beef costs.

It’s compounding with the livestock outbreak. Domestic production is reduced, the war increases shipping costs due to higher oil prices, and the tariffs increase import costs.

you can argue that the panama barrier was breached by screwworm in 2022 which now is causing additional costs of monitoring the cattle for screwworm if you want, totally acceptable argument. you can argue that the 75 year cattle shortage has a larger impact if you want as well… but to say the iran war doesn’t have an effect on beef prices is really stupid.
