Everybody wants to be a part of the middle class. Even the rich politicians try to roleplay as middle class because it makes them “relatable” and “more Americans”

The middle class of the post-WWII era was only made possible by the US’s position as the sole hegemonic power of the world (everyone else’s factories were bombed to shit and their populations decimated). To this end, we exerted our influence over the rest of the planet to make sure we could exploit countries for cheap resources and raise our own standard of living. Now that other powers (BRICS) are on the rise and we are in decline, we are no longer able to…(1/2)

…exploit the periphery as effectively. Our imperial mechanisms are pointed at new targets and pointed inward at us as we become more polarized. As the coming economic crisis approaches, things will continue to deteriorate. Thats at least my offhand thought on the matter (2/2)
