NY changed the statute of limitations for one year to specifically allow Jean Carroll to file her civil complaint. That should in itself tell you what a sham the civil trial was.

This is incredibly misleading; they changed that law incidentally to the lawsuit, and many other states have passed similar laws. You can also check and see how the law was publicly debated and passed by elected lawmakers, despite you framing it like some secret conspiracy

It is incredibly naive to think Jean Carroll’s allegations had no bearing on the decision from NY Democrats to grant a reprieve from the statute of limitations.

Conversely, you would have to be incredibly naïve (by having faith in Trump’s word) that it did- you could argue that Carroll’s team opportunistically took advantage of it, but that wouldn’t explain why similar laws were passed around the country both before and after
