I don’t think they should be dragged, but have you ever watched a law enforcement or ICE extraction? It’s a high pressure situation and everyone involved is on edge. Nobody is just going to willingly let themselves be taken away, so of course there’s going to be resistance which leads to dragging. The agents still have a job to do, otherwise what would be the point of them being there.

If I’m woke enough this isn’t a gotcha. We didn’t have any restrictions on numbers of immigrants from Asian countries until the 1870s, none on Europeans till the 1920s, and none on the rest of the Americas until 1965. If someone has no criminal record, and wants to be a part of our country, why do I have a right to it and they don’t just because I was born here.

Now my idealism doesn’t necessarily translate to practicality. A country isn’t able to provide social services or housing to immigrants if there is a massive refugee crisis for instance. But we aren’t reaching that point. Immigrants, currently, are helping our economy and are building more housing. They are a net positive by far, and deportation is driven by simple xenophobic racism
