i said it before but here goes again: trump's blockade of the strait is bad. it means 20% of the world's oil is gone for the long haul. we're already seeing places like ireland lose their oil. and our prices up. its bad man. very very bad.

East Asia is feeling the pain even more. They get basically all their oil from that strait

Some of them don’t have reserves for a while. Malaysia is recommending WFH for the public sector 😭

like theres no solution here, unless trump wanted to give russia the entire eu and rest of the world, if theyre capable. if trump put aside everything and just made a deal with iran asap? it would still be weeks without oil, months maybe.

i think i already saw india or somewhere that their highways were just seas of people walking instead of cars, and that was like a week or two ago.

The problem is production in the Gulf can’t just restart overnight like turning on a water tap. Once oil wells are “shut in” it takes months to get them going again, and the flow won’t be the same, and might not even start again period

If that was India I’d be surprised, because they’ve gotten some oil through the Strait (they’re somewhat friendly with Iran) and also buy Russian oil. That could’ve been for another reason. It seems like gas (petrol) prices haven’t risen much there, but the government is reducing gas taxes. Propane and natural gas are seeing increases though
