cornrows and tight patterned close scalp braids are. White people did not do those. These wigs could be on Latino, Asian, white, Pacific islanders etc. now if you showed a blonde wig I’d more or so get it. But you just made the worse argument ever to defend wanting to cosplay as black ppl

Let’s say a black person wore a blonde wig then. Is that cultural appropriation? Also I would never want to cosplay a black person. One of my friends got braids because she has long hair and she got yelled at for “stealing culture” by someone on a bench with an obvious wig

that’s why i said I more or so understand the point. They’re obviously wrong and want to defend cultural appropriation, but literally showed a wig that anyone of any race or culture background could have naturally, while a blonde wing would’ve fit their point better. Still wrong tho. Lmao, sounds like their friend look chopped and got called out by a stranger and it hurts their feelings they can’t be a Kardashian.

No, bc the braids your friend got were probably def made for a person of a certain racially defined hair texture and not for the hair type they were designed around from the cultural history and doesn’t understand the historical context of how people who used to get them were oppressed and they just get to do for a fad and not bc of necessity or relation.

They are also protective to that hair texture, bc Americas climate is damaging to their hair texture.

That’s not necessarily true. Americas climate doesn’t damage our hair. It is a protective hairstyle tho, but it wasn’t created specifically because of America’s climate.

ik it wasn’t, but from what I’ve read, the humidity is damaging, it’s mitigated by products, and in all fairness is also damaging to white peoples hair too
