The quality of life for black people in South Africa has significantly increased since apartheid ended. For white people, it has decreased. But when you begin to lose your privilege and society starts to equalize, things will inevitably be worse when you have to actually compete with others on a fairer playing field.

You oppress people for decades, make them live in squalor and you just expect them to integrate into society immediately after generations of having less opportunity and rights? For example lock a baby in a dungeon, beat it once a week and release it into the world at 18, that child will be dysfunctional. Same principle

Well let’s not forget the internalized apartheid racism they have towards different ethnic groups in South Africa

Indeed, the post apartheid South Africa shares alot of similarities with the US post civil rights act as the rights were provided but the system didn’t adapt very quickly. Not to say we’re well adjusted now

And there are of course major infrastructure issues, and major problems with corruption. But that’s not something you inherently get from undoing apartheid. As demonstrated by how South Africa’s economy grew dramatically for the first 20 years post-apartheid.

ok yeah no i’m not conceding that, Im speaking specifically about recidivism and policing, not saying that we ‘gave people civil rights too fast’.
