I never said he was doomed to fail. I said city governance should be judged on 2–4 year outcomes, not headlines from month one. The very earliest he can be judged is maybe in September and definitely in January.

It might sound like I’m waiting for the dude to fail or something, but you have to see the long-term effects of budget balancing, not just simply looking for a short term win. All of that being said, I have NEVER said he’s been doing bad. In fact, I really liked his anti-rat campaign. It might sound like “freakonomics”, but policies like that actually have wide sweeping positive effects.
