you can still be in favor of keeping violent criminals locked up while also being in favor of rehabilitative justice, it doesn’t mean letting people out

Yes however some criminals can’t be rehabilitated, rehabilitative justice doesn’t mean you try and rehabilitate literally every single criminal, it means rehabilitation should me the main priority for the general prison population

Well you dont know if a person can be rehabilitated if there’s no effort to make them back into a functioning member of society who won’t commit crimes.

Yes but given specific crimes it is simply a waste of time and effort to try for some people, really for murder the only people who can be rehabilitated are those who were involved in mutual combat which is most gang murders

Because the amount of sheer resources it would take is too much to demand the American taxpayer to pay, I am talking about aggravated rapists and murders

I understand who you’re referring to but I’d like a quantitative measure for why it’s too much, without that we’re just doing it based on emotions

No we are not it is statistics as most people on parole re affend, and these are people in for drug charges, also it costs so much money to house prisoners and the mental work needed for rehabilitating violent criminals is far more expensive than what is needed for even hard drug addictions
