it still blows my mind that a third of the country got hoodwinked into thinking donald trump, a real estate mogul, would somehow want to bring housing prices down

idk if you’ve been paying attention to housing markets but they have come down a decent amount and a lot of people think it’s about to plummet

Why would it plummet? The amount that it has come down recently seems within seasonal variation (peak in May/June, trough in Dec)

people can’t afford them. what houses were going for a year ago isn’t the reality anymore. there’s been lots of discussion how people were passing offers a year ago bc they thought they were going to get more and are now pissed people aren’t offering what they were a year ago. i watched my parents’ neighbor list at $1.5 and it sat and showed for over a year before they finally gave up and took $1M flat and left bc they had to for work. which was the whole reason they listed initially

trying to convince them to lower the price bc no one was about to overpay for 2023-2024 housing prices by the tail end of 2025 lmao. was darn near a scandal in the neighborhood, it’s all pretty new but everyone knew it was never gonna go that high
