Do some ppl get more conservative as they age bc they lose empathy as they age, or bc fighting for good in such an evil world is too painful and hopeless for some ppl?

Both but I think the latter more so. Also conservatism is build around keeping things the same or going backwards, which is comforting to old people. That’s why trump is trying to move us all backwards as he does

I think it’s usually because they had very little empathy to begin with, and their own interests changed over time. They became conservative because that was more expedient for themselves than it had been when they were younger.

I don’t think people necessary get more conservative as they age. I think that’s just a myth propagated by conservatives. In reality, I think older people tend to be conservative because they refuse to drop their old and tightly held beliefs. This gives the illusion of a rise in conservatism with age. In actuality, they were always conservative. But when the Overton Window shifts left, they plant their feet firmly in the ground.

The pie chart from some payroll tools that shows how much of your money goes to taxes really radicalizes some people 😭

I think a thought process is to be conservative means to want to go back inherently there is a fear of change and a desire for you to go back to a simpler time. Like I live in a very conservative area and one of the things I’ve noticed is people don’t like to be confused or wrong. This makes them dislike change and progress

It's bc our taxes are used in awful and frivolous ways that don't tend to benefit us. High taxes are supposed to come with a whole slew of direct benefits. They need to demand better uses of our tax dollars!!
