as much as i acknowledge that no country could be completely socialist and succeed, i do agree that there are some socialist elements that we can adopt for the benefit of the people

Socialism on its own isn’t really good, socialism mixed with capitalism to keep in check the rich and 1 percent is an ideal I’m fine with. Let people own what they want but don’t let the companies to keep everything from the poor

I feel like I fall somewhere under this umbrella. Like a free market with government programs to help the less fortunate and socialized medicine.

there’s nothing stopping them from getting jobs. most didn’t CHOOSE this life. It’s usually substance related. Make better decisions🥲

Oh to be so privileged that you think there’s nothing stopping them from getting a job

precisely, because i worked with underprivileged people and most of our clients received public benefits to some capacity. and those that didn’t struggled to receive stuff like medical care and even therapy to deal with serious trauma

we can’t be socialist but we sure as hell could do something to help people like them out

i worked for a lady who could barely hold down a job because of severe trauma and she was in and out of rehab and the hospital. it’s not always their choice to not get or keep a job

Socialism relies on the idea that people are willing to share, people or more potently Americans do not like that. They are selfish and willing to drown anyone to get above someone else. So true socialism is unachievable because someone will always rally for capitalism. So provide a concession, many countries work well as a sudo socialistic and capitalistic society.

Houses, property, cars. It’s a sore thumb of the right. They will not vote for better conditions for everyone if they believe their own stuff would be for all

Okay well then you don’t understand Marxist theory. Your house, cars, and property (as long as you’re not owning property to rent to others) is PERSONAL property. You will not have to “share” these items under socialism or communism. PRIVATE property is what will be redistributed. Meaning the means of production. I don’t think you know as much about socialism as you think you do.

I’m not saying that I do but you’re right. That is what I learned is sociology. I just also don’t think marketing that to all will work

That’s all personal property. That’s 100% allowed under socialism.

no major country that was completely socialist worked out in the end, for socialism to work out it has to be small scale. people get too greedy and expect more power and resources and it just creates a cycle of greed, corruption and abuse of the system

If I’m not mistaken, isn’t this just social democracy? Just a little more economically right than democratic socialism? A lot of Nordic economies implement it currently
