Steam engine works 👍 And really that’s mostly just Coal and Nuclear and geothermal , But for example wind, Solar, hydroelectric don’t do that.

It’s just energetically easier and economically cheaper to boil water to spin turbines in most cases

There are other ways like Seebeck effect used in RTGs, but those are just worse than turbine lol
