It’s an area of study professionally for a subset of what I was doing prior to college: The big thing that stands out about that one as opposed to the Holodomor via Stalin, Mao’s “Great Leap Forward”, Pol Pot, etc is the methodology for who was killed, how it was conducted, and the numbers of death for each method. So something like the three other more recent genocides, famine and bullets proved very effective as cold calculated methods for killing millions of people. 1/2
2/2 the addition of gas chambers is what deniers stick to and bounce that off “historic record” numbers which was often whatever the news was reporting at the time. So we ask ourselves “how accurate is the news today” and “was it likely as abhorrently accurate decades ago” and if those things are even in the ballpark, it accounts for the discrepancies in numbers associated with the genocide. They also like to point out much of it wasn’t mainstream until the 1990s, but, I happen to have some 2/3
3/3 of the hand written accounts/typewriter/ink signed documents from my family being put in the labor camps (Ukrainians not Jews) which show an immense amount of truth in the basis for the history surrounding at least two camps. I can’t speak to the validity of how many were killed in chambers, but the Nazi’s did imprison and kill masses of people through various methods.
